Multiple sclerosis or ms, as some call it, is a complex disease. It is not easy to diagnose as it does not have any traces that can be detected by tests. The form is characterized by periods or episodes when the disease is active followed by periods or episodes when the disease is active which are known as relapses. Relapse literally refers to a condition where a cured disease deteriorates back to its original form. Remission is the opposite of relapse. It is common to experience intense pain during the relapse period of relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis. The pain usually starts in the back and eventually spreads out to the entire body. It is a disorder of the nervous system so the pain is very intense and is unbearable at times. It can cause a person toncry put sometimes. Even adults can not withstanding the pain when it gets really bad. The pain can extend to other parts of the body like the joints, muscles, brain tissue and limbs. The relapse period is unpredictable and can occur at any time. The pain usually occurs at night time when the body is relaxed and a person is looking to sleep.

Another symptom is a pain in the eyes. As with the body pain, the pain in the eyes is also very intense. It can occur either in a single eye or on both, but mostly occurs in one eye at a time. Most people experience pain in their right eye. Some experience it in their left eye but they are a minority. It usually gets worse with age. One of the long term ways to take care of the complications caused by relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis is to make lifestyle changes. The person should eat food that does not result in an accumulation of fats. Foods that boost immunity and the nervous system should be eaten. Relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis may also cause stiffness in the joints. This is often a problem with patients who are older then forty.
